DESWOS
DESWOS Deutsche Entwicklungshilfe für soziales Wohnungs- und Siedlungswesen e.V. (German Development Assistance Association for Social Housing) was founded in 1969 and started its operations by providing non-profit consultancy services and training for members and functionaries of housing co-operatives. Later the organisation went into the field of direct project assistance in terms of funding, organisational development and technical support of low-income housing and infrastructure development in developing countries.
Since 1983 about 450 partnership programmes and projects in developing countries in the field of self-help housing, rehabilitation and resettlement, infrastructure development and income generation have been supported. Mutual Home Ownership (MHO) is a new form of tenure, being poineered by CDS Coops in the UK, to increase the supply of affordable intermediate market housing without requiring a major increase in capital investment from Government.
Rooftops Canada
Since 1984, Rooftops Canada has been providing technical expertise and leadership in low-cost housing and human settlements development around the world. Rooftops Canada was founded as the international development program of the Co-op Housing Federation of Canada. It now also works on behalf of the Canadian Housing and Renewal Association, and the Ontario and New Brunswick Non-Profit Housing Associations. Rooftops Canada is a non-profit, non-governmental organization.
